A Word About the Greenhouse Family
Karl is proud of his team. All of them were carefully chosen because they possess certain qualities that Karl finds invaluable to his business: outgoing, friendly, customer-oriented, knowledgeable. It’s important to Karl that all Shady Lane Greenhouses staff help create a family ambiance and a great shopping experience for our guests. That said, here’s a bit more about all of them …
Greg Olson, Nursery Manager
Affectionately known to Shady Lane customers as “plant man,” Greg Olson started out playing in the mud and climbing trees. He never stopped! “I always knew I wanted to work outdoors,” says Greg. “Even as a kid, I was fascinated by growing plants and trees.” Greg has been a resource for customers for (?) years. He enjoys helping people find solutions to their gardening challenges. “When you come up with the right combination of plants and trees, everything really thrives. People can work less and enjoy their yards more.”
Kathy Schneider, Fundraiser Coordinator
Kathy was a bit reluctant to talk about herself. No problem. We can tell you even better than Kathy can that she’s very important to our operation. Not only does she carefully prepare our invoices and deposits, she serves as our fundraising coordinator. And that is one tough job. The only thing that’s tougher is getting her to pose for a picture.
Assistant Grower
Rosa has been with us for over 10 years. A hard worker with a wonderful personality, she’s a great asset to our team
Landscaping Crew
Mario is part of our landscaping crew. He can be seen out and about at clients’ homes and businesses all over the Metro Milwaukee area. He and his fellow landscapers know what it means to put in a long, hard day.
Maintenance
Where would we be without our one-man crew, Jesus? Tackling every project with little or no hesitation, he can be found on the roof, under a bench, behind the wheel or in the greenhouses manifesting Karl’s many requests. Thank you for making things run easier for us, Jesus.
Our Gardeners
The gardening staff at Shady Lane Greenhouses loves to “talk plants” and they’re great at recommending just the right annuals, perennials, shrubs and fruit trees to meet your needs. Our full-time and part-time gardeners also spend time at the front counter where they’re never too busy to answer a question (or at least promise to research a topic).
We also appreciate Ken, who helped with various maintenance projects, and our part-time drivers, Bill and Matt.
We are hiring seasonal team members. If you are interested in applying to work in the garden center this season, please complete an application and submit it to Heidi at Shady Lane Greenhouse.
