P.T.A. 2014

Close-Up of Mums and Parking Lot in ForegroundLucky, lucky us. The weather for our second annual P.T.A. was spectacular. In fact, the bright sun made picture taking difficult—the glare from the high-gloss paint jobs and polished chrome was intense. Still, stunning photo opportunities were everywhere.

We at Shady Lane Greenhouses can only hope that everyone who attended our Saturday event enjoyed it half as much as we did. We also hope that every car owner knows how much we appreciated their participation; without them, there would have been no show.

Whether it’s at our P.T.A. or any other car show, owners are always eager to share information about their particular passion. On Saturday, for instance, we learned the difference between a Model T and a Model A; what determines whether a car sports a Hobbyist or a Collector license plate; and how the name Triumph Spitfire originated.

Special thanks to Todd and Josh Dettmering for supplying the music. They make a great event even better. Special thanks, as well, to Mark Harder of Hubcaps & Clocks for bringing his auto art and custom designing our three People’s Choice Awards.

Immanuel Lutheran Brookfield church had quite a line throughout the day. Who doesn’t like grilled brats, chips, cookies and cold beverages on a day meant for relaxing and conversing? It was all the more tasty knowing that the proceeds will benefit the church’s youth group.

Thanks, too, to the spectators and their families who came to view the classic cars and the KFH Legacy. Their food and monetary donations to the Falls Area Food Pantry were most generous. Also, the enthusiasm visitors showed over the cars was fun to see.

As it always is, the efforts of our volunteers meant that the parking, registration and running of the train went as smoothly as possible. We’re so grateful for their help. We’re equally grateful to RockAuto for donating all the totes and a $25 gift certificate; to Rallye Productions for their expert work on our dash plaques; and to Express News and Germantown NOW for sharing a portion of the P.T.A. with their readers.
