There are moments in the Christmas season when our main entrance–Greenhouse A–is quiet. What most people don’t see is the hustle and bustle behind the scenes. Tom is hand-painting poinsettias in the barn, Kathy is in the office answering hundreds of phone calls, Karl is loading a van with fund-raiser wreaths, Heidi is at her workbench pumping out spectacular arrangements, Debbie’s outside answering questions about Christmas trees while John is loading them onto cars, Rosa and Melody are at their workstations fashioning greens and bows, Mario and Greg are on-site putting up lights on a client’s home, and Bill is out delivering orders. It’s a wonderful holiday rush, one that we greatly miss in January.

Right now, we encourage visitors to amble through Shady Lane Greenhouses and witness some of the delightful, controlled chaos. While here, ask Heidi to custom-design an arrangement for your holiday table or a wreath for your door. Pick out your ribbon, berries, planter, greens and special decorations. Then, pull up a chair and watch Heidi create Christmas decor faster than any one of Santa’s elves.
